Alexis Carrington
Alexis Carrington is a native of Hampton Virginia. She began her educational career with Newport News Public Schools, transitioned to Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville Florida, and returned home to give back all of what was given to her by joining Hampton City Schools. She has experience teaching Elementary Science, Middle School Science and Environmental Science at the High School level.
Two years in a row, Alexis was nominated as the Teacher of the Year at Arlington Middle School. She won the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year award along with being recognized as a Florida Blue Spotlight Teacher, receiving a science grant for AMS. With the partnership of her students, parents, fellow teachers and administrators, her students achieved the highest pass rate for the Florida State Science Assessment in a "turn around" district. With this success, those science scores contributed to the status of "accreditation" in a school that was non-accredited for 4 consecutive years.
Alexis is a proud graduate of both Norfolk State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree, and Regent University earning her master's degree. She is committed to educating students in the field of Science, sparking an interest in science careers. Targeting minority students, her passion is being relevant and revelatory, breaking the stigma of underrepresentation in science engineering and related fields.
Her motto is, Science is LIFE, so LIVE IT!
